The 2023 Canadian Football League season came to a premature end for the Saskatchewan Roughriders with the green and white missing the playoffs, but one Roughrider found himself on top in one stat category.

The Sarasota, Florida product was the only player in the league to top 90 receptions in 2023 as Calgary Stampeders wide receiver Reggie Begelton had second most receptions (86).

It was a successful season for Bane Jr. in his first campaign with the Roughriders. He set a career high in receiving yardage (1,104), the first time he surpassed the 1,000-yard mark.

Three Saskatchewan receivers finished among the league leaders in receiving yards. Bane Jr. was 7th overall in the league, with Samuel Emilus right behind him in 8th spot 1,097 yards. The second-year receiver was 9th overall in receptions (70).

Tevin Jones finished 12th in a pair of categories, receptions (65) and yardage (882).

On the defensive side of the ball, linebacker Larry Dean finished in the league’s top three in tackles.

Dean had 104 defensive tackles, finishing behind Calgary’s Micah Awe (127) and Edmonton’s Nyles Morgan (107).
