At the SaskTel Centre on Sunday, Saskatoon picked up a 6-2 win over Regina, led by Edor Sidorov, who scored a hat trick for the Blades. Trevor Wong provided five points (1G-4A). The Pats were outshot 50-26.

Local product, Pats Sam Oremba joined the Sportscage on Tuesday. He said last year’s playoff battle with the Blades remains in the back of his mind.

“Every game, we want to beat them, we want revenge cause they ended our season last year.”

Over the last two games, Oremba has scored three goals in the last two games. The 2005-born forward feels that he’s taken on more of a leadership role this season.

“As you kind of get older in the league, you got more responsibility and maturity, you’ve been here longer, so you kind of know what to do more.”

Tonight will mark the final time in 2023 the Pats will meet the Blades. The two squads will meet three more times in the 2023-24 regular season, with each of the remaining contests occurring in January of 2024.

Heading into this evening’s matchup, the Blades are on top of the Eastern Division with 22 points (11-5) and are second overall in the Conference.

Regina is seventh in the Eastern Conference at 19 points (9-8-1).
