Pats Snap Losing Streak

Tanner Howe tallied twice, while Parker Berge had a goal and a helper, as the Regina Pats skated to a 4-2 win over the visiting Brandon Wheat Kings during “Connor Bedard Bobble Head Night” at Brandt Centre.

The Pats fell behind 2-0 before scoring four unanswered goals, to snap their mini three game losing streak.

Rylen Roersma opened the scoring for the visiting Wheat Kings at 4:46 of the first period. The Pats did have a bit of a push back in the first period, after initially being outshot 7-2.

The Wheaties went up 2-0 in the second period after a goal from Roger McQueen (13), assisted by Roersma.

With just three minutes left in the second period Tanner Howe (12) scored on a power play to have the Pats trailing 2-1 at the end of the second frame.

In the third, there was far more pressure from the Pats, as Borya Valis notched his 6th of the season at 4:18 to draw the Pats even.

Tanner Howe (13) put the Pats up 3-2 with just under eight minutes to play, on the power play.

Parker Berge added a long shot into the empty net with 31 seconds left to seal the deal.

Howe and Berge were named first and second stars.

Pats Goalie Ewan Huet was solid, and deserved consideration for the three stars, turning aside 26 of 28 shots. Huet made some key saves, as Brandon was unable to bury a handful of chances in the first two periods.

After losing 7-5 the night before in Brandon, the Pats showed some remarkable resiliency in the third, outshooting Brandon 13-6.

The announced attendance was 3322.

The Pats next game is Wednesday night, when they play host to the Edmonton Oil Kings.
