These toys made it into the Hall of Fame

We all had a favourite toy growing up as kids and who knows, maybe you still like playing with childhood toy to this day. Don’t worry, I won’t judge because we all need a little escape from the pressures of adulthood.

The National Toy Hall of Fame have announced their newest toy inductees. With the popularity of the Barbie movie this year, many felt Ken might make it in this year, but he was past over once again – poor Ken. Instead, the corn popper toy, which helps infants learn to walk, made the cut along with baseball cards, cabbage patch kids, and NERF foam toys.

Anyone can nominate a toy, however the ultimate criteria for a toy to make it in to the hall of fame comes down to two things; it must inspire creative play and it must stand the test of time. If a toy meets those two requirements than there’s a good chance it’ll end up in the toy hall of fame.

Other toys that were nominated, but didn’t make it this year, include Battleship, Bop-It, and Choose Your Own Adventure novels. I just hope that steak my parents put around my neck so the dog would play with me makes the hall of fame one day!
