Pats open road trek in Swift Current

With the Canadian Western Agribition taking over the Queen City next week, the Regina Pats will begin a five-game road trek in Swift Current against the Broncos.

The Pats are coming off a 6-1 loss to the Edmonton Oil Kings on Wednesday night at the Brandt Centre. Ewan Huet allowed five goals on 23 shots before giving way to Kelton Pyne who made 12 saves on 13 shots.

After tonight’s contest the Pats will head to Alberta next week for a three-game road trip through Medicine Hat, Edmonton, and Red Deer.

Regina has been very active this week on the trade market. The transactions began on Monday with the Pats acquiring Anthony Wilson from the Brandon Wheat Kings for Matteo Micheals.

On Thursday, Regina traded defenceman Carter Herman to the Saskatoon Blades for a draft pick. Later in the day, the Pats picked up Logan Peskett from the Kelowna Rockets for a pair of picks.

Both teams have nearly identical records, with the Pats (10-10-1-1) holding a one-point advantage over the Broncos (10-9-1).

Swift Current will be wrapping up a six-game homestand tonight. On Tuesday, they picked up a 6-3 win over Medicine Hat. The Broncos will try and remain above .500 during their current homestand (3-2).
