Roughriders add Five Canadians to Roster

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have solidified some Canadian depth with their latest round of signings.

On Tuesday, the green and white agreed to terms with five Canadian players, including three from the 2023 CFL Draft Class.

National linebackers Matt Dean and Nick Thomas, National offensive linemen Zack Fry and Evan Floren, and National fullback Morgen Runge all agreed to contracts with the Roughriders.

Fry was selected by the Roughriders in the 2022 CFL Draft. The 6’6 304 lb offensive lineman dressed in four games in 2023.

Dean was a third round choice by Saskatchewan in this year’s draft. The 6’2 220 lb. linebacker played in four games, recording one special teams tackle in 2023.

Thomas was drafted by the Roughriders in the seventh round this past year. The 5’11 215 lb. linebacker returned to the University of Manitoba for his final season eligibility this year.

Saskatchewan also selected Floren in the seventh round of this year’s CFL Draft. The 6’4 300 lb offensive lineman returned to Queen’s after attending training camp with the Roughriders.

Runge attended training camp with the Roughriders before returning for his final season of university eligibility.
