Aerial Support Unit helps in arrest of dangerous driver

Having an eye in the sky is continuing to pay off for the Regina Police Service.

Last Friday night, the ASU spotted a car driving erratically in north west Regina. The aircraft continued to monitor the vehicle as it sped through a school zone on Mapleford Boulevard and several residential streets in that neighbourhood. The vehicle was “clocked” at between 80 and 130 km/h before the vehicle parked in a driveway on Boswell Crescent.

The Aerial Support Unit guided officers to the scene, who arrived just as the three people inside the vehicle were getting out.

The driver was arrested without incident.

The accused is a 16 year old, so their name can not be made public. They will make a court appearance in Regina in January.
