Riders sign three DBs

The Saskatchewan Roughriders added depth to their secondary with a trio of signings on Wednesday.

Defensive backs Rodney Clemons, Cole Coleman and William Fields II agreed to terms with the green and white.

Clemons (6’0-205) played in three games for Saskatchewan in 2023, picking up one special teams tackle.

Following the 2020 NFL Draft, the 26-year-old signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent. He would join the Tennessee Titans practice squad in 2021.

Clemons spent five collegiate seasons (2015-2019) at Southern Methodist University.

Coleman (5’10-193) initially signed with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent following the 2023 NFL Draft and attended rookie camp with the team.

The North Carolina native played five collegiate seasons (2018-22) at Elon University.

Fields II (5’10-181) originally signed with the Roughriders in October. The North Carolina native signed with Kansas City as an undrafted free agent in 2019. He would get traded to the Minnesota Vikings after training camp. In 2020, Fields II split the season with the Vikings and Houston Texans. He spent time with the San Francisco 49ers in 2021.

Fields II played four collegiate seasons (2016-19) at Clemson University, suiting up in 46 games. He helped the Tigers to a pair of National Championships (2016,2018).
