SaskEnergy and SaskPower introduce new rebate for home efficiency

SaskEnergy and SaskPower have launched a new rebate to help customers improve their homes’ efficiency.

The Home Efficiency Retrofit Rebate (HERR) provides eligible homeowners with rebates to upgrade their home’s insulation, air-sealing, windows, and doors.

“Through their energy efficiency programs, SaskEnergy and SaskPower are helping customers reduce the cost to heat their homes,” said Dustin Duncan, Minister Responsible for SaskEnergy. “By minimizing energy usage, our utilities are helping customers reduce both their emissions and their monthly bills.”

To be eligible for the HERR, homeowners must first apply for the Canada Greener Homes Grant (CGHG), which provides rebates of up to $5,000 for home retrofits and $600 to put toward home energy audits.

The HERR offers customers additional rebates up to $1,800 towards optimizing their home’s energy use.

An additional $200 is available to subsidize the cost of having an EnerGuide advisor evaluate the home before and after the upgrades are installed – a requirement of the CGHG.
