Regina Police kept Busy with Weekend Auto Thefts

In two different stolen auto cases, charges have been filed against a male and a female.

The first incident unfolded on January 5 at 11:30 p.m. when officers responded to a report of a stolen truck near 5th Avenue and McTavish Street. The vehicle was apprehended near 8th Avenue and Athol Street, leading to the arrest of both occupants.

Subsequently, a 32 year old was charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000. They are scheduled to appear in Regina Provincial Court on February 14, 2024.

In the second stolen auto incident on January 7, a member of the RPS Canine Unit located a previously elusive stolen vehicle on North Albert Street. After the vehicle was observed parked near 9th Avenue North and Broad Street, officers engaged the suspect, prompting a foot pursuit.

The suspect was apprehended by a Police Service Dog, leading to hospitalization for injuries from the dog bite.

A 29-year-old occupant of the vehicle is now facing charges, while others fled in the stolen vehicle, police are still looking for them
