Man charged with sexually assaulting two girls at a Regina business

Regina Police Service has charged a 54-year-old man for allegedly sexually assaulting two young girls in a business on the 400 block of Albert Street North.

The victims, aged 12 and 13, reported the incidents on January 4, stating the assaults occurred in the business’s back room.

The suspect, Naveed Irshad, faces two counts of sexual interference and two counts of sexual assault on a person under 16.

Regina Children’s Justice Centre led the investigation, a specially integrated unit combining police investigators and social workers.

According to the RPS media release, the youths said that the assault took place in the back room of the business and that the employee had been calling and texting them for several weeks prior. The youths first met the suspect when they attended to the business which offers entertainment services, primarily, to children.

Irshad has been released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Regina Provincial Court on February 13.
