Province, doctors agree to tentative deal

The Province and the Saskatchewan Medical Association (SMA) have reached a tentative four-year contract agreement, spanning from April 1, 2022, to March 31, 2026.

Health Minister Everett Hindley expressed satisfaction with the deal, emphasizing its significance in offering a fair and competitive compensation package. This agreement is designed to bolster ongoing efforts in physician retention and recruitment within the province.

SMA President Dr. Annette Epp highlighted the responsiveness of the agreement to priorities raised by physicians during negotiations.

While the details of the contract remain undisclosed, as per standard practice, the SMA Board of Directors is recommending acceptance, subject to a ratification vote. The ratification process will conclude on February 2, with the outcome determining the official acceptance of the tentative agreement.
