Recent hot spell forces season’s closure of the Rink on Wascana

Warmer-than-usual winter weather has prompted the Provincial Capital Commission to announce the closure of the Rink on Wascana in Regina for the remainder of the season.

The unseasonably mild temperatures have led to the melting of the ice surface, and crews have begun the process of dismantling the boards.

Despite the rink closure, the Wascana Centre Hub for the Frost Festival will remain open throughout the weekend, offering various winter activities on the Queen Elizabeth II West Lawn, such as laser tag and wagon rides.

Executive Director Jenna Schroeder encourages the community to enjoy the festivities.
