Alleged armed shoplifter nabbed by Regina police

An alleged shoplifting incident took a dangerous turn on Sunday, as a 27-year-old male attempted theft at a business in the 4500 Block of Gordon Road.

Police say the suspect, Trey Asapace, concealed items worth hundreds of dollars in a backpack.

When confronted by loss prevention officers, he brandished a knife, threatening them.

Officers managed to seize the bag of stolen items.

Asapace was apprehended in a nearby parking lot, is facing charges including robbery, obstructing a peace officer, and assault with a weapon.
