The Regina Humane Society (RHS) has launched a Grand Unleashing Adoption Event to help with the unprecedented number of homeless dogs arriving at the Shelter.
In 2023, the Society accepted 156 more dogs into care than in previous years. The trend continued in early 2024, with 40 dogs and puppies waiting to find a forever family at the Society’s new location on 4900 Parliament Avenue.
The RHS said the high number of dogs in the Shelter’s care is likely a result of various factors, including economic challenges, housing issues and demand for dogs during the pandemic, which no longer exists.
As part of the adoption event, adoption fees have been reduced to $25. Adoptions still include spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, tattoos, microchips, and a post-adoption veterinary exam.
“These are beautiful, loving animals that are homeless through no fault of their own,” says Lisa Koch, RHS Executive Director. “With a school break and the extra family time it offers on the horizon, now is a great time for families who have been considering adopting a dog.”
