One of two wanted in July 2023 murder charged

One of the two suspects wanted for first-degree murder in a July 2023 homicide is now in custody, the Regina Police Service has said.

Over the weekend, 35-year-old Shedrek Samuel turned himself in to the RCMP in British Columbia.

He was later transported to Regina late Monday evening and appeared in Regina Provincial Court Tuesday morning.

Samuel and Daniel “Juma” Drie Atem were both wanted about a homicide which occurred on July 29, 2023, in the 2100 block of Broad Street.

Atem remains significant and is described as having a dark complexion, a thin build, 6’3″ tall, roughly 140 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Atem is asked to contact police. If you see Atem, police ask that you do not approach him. Instead, contact the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
