Saskatchewan Athletes Shine

The Flame of Hope still burns brightly in Calgary as the Special Olympics Canada Winter Game prepare to wrap up this weekend.

Athletes from all across Canada have gathered to compete in a variety of winter sports. Eight events include: floor hockey, downhill and cross country skiing, 5 pin bowling, skating, snowshoeing, speed skating and curling. Special Olympics Canada Winter Games are truly inspiring, celebrating the abilities of all individuals, and Calgary is proud to host such a meaningful and impactful competition. Saskatchewan athletes have been training hard and anticipating this memorable and uplifting experience.

Just a note, the Saskatchewan Curling Team skipped by Danny Fiedelleck is doing great and was on the ice today! Danny and team were featured in TSN coverage from Melfort, Saskatchewan on Curling Day in Canada.

The Saskatchewan Team attending the games consists of 48 athletes, 21 coaches, and 8 mission staff. The athletes have been representing on the national stage in all events. The athletes competing on Team Sask at the 2024 SOC Winter Games will be working towards qualifying for the Special Olympics World Winter Games in 2025! Plus, athletes have done an amazing job of fundraising to attend these Games.
