City declares snow routes and enters storm mode

The City of Regina has declared snow routes are in effect.

From 6 a.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday, no on-street parking will be along the identified routes for 24 hours.

Snow routes are identified by blue signs with a white snowflake.

This parking ban allows crews to plow the roads curb to curb, improving traffic flow along the busy roadways. It will also help ensure roads are passable for emergency response vehicles.

During the temporary parking ban, vehicles parked on the snow route will be ticketed.

The City also announced that crews are in storm mode to keep major roads drivable by plowing snow and applying ice control at high-risk intersections.

The city says that its focus will be on high-speed roads, those with the greatest volume of traffic, and emergency routes.

They will also be monitoring and clearing road sections prone to blowing snow.
