Give Way to Fresh Ideas

Meetings! Let’s be honest, some meetings go on with the excitement of saltine crackers, they are dry. If they are a quick touch point to what you need, awesome. Sometimes, we go into meetings a bit tired, hungry and feeling a bit stunted. Perhaps getting away from the four walls of the office is just what you and the crew need to release the mind.

Spring conditions mean fresh air, the grass greening, trees budding and walking while you discuss work projects or just chat about what is happening around you. These walks clear your mind and invigorate! You are breathing deep and getting the blood pumping. You can explore those new ideas as you notice things you didn’t see before. Understanding your surroundings, your environment giving you a new point of view. Perspective.

Just yesterday on my way home, I walked with one of our sales representatives and we talked about how we will help the Canadian Mental Health Association with their Chase the Ace fundraising. And just like that, an update on a work related project. Also, having time to catch up on the personal side of things. Good management knows not just the work portion of a person’s life, but they are interested in what makes that person tick outside the office. That should be what we all hope to achieve. Knowing each other.

I walk to work on a regular basis and see how Regina’s downtown has changed with fewer people occupying the core. It is easy to go directly to and from, keeping your eyes focused on the heaves in the side walk and just getting to an appointment or work. No interactions OR you could start looking at the what’s happening around you. The bus routes are running along Victoria Avenue. Pat Fiacco Square is undergoing some renewals, the sidewalks are falling apart, and employees flood the downtown streets around 11:45. People are going to the mall or they head to toward Wascana Park to clear their heads or move their cars from 2 hour parking in the residential areas.

Our radio job is to keep our eyes open and let you know when and what we see. Experience the kinds of things we think you would like to do. Regina will soon be blossoming and you do not want to be locked in your office or home and miss the sights and smells. Let radio give you ideas and invite you to visit such places as the Fireside on 15th Avenue, Tangerine, Lorne Street Drugs or the Bar Willow & Bannock House in Wascana Park.

Featured in this video is the Bannock House. Perhaps you’ve already had a Skip or Door Dash delivery from the Bannock House. When the time is right and you are ready to take lunch to the park for time with the birds, the water, the sun, you should also grab lunch from this little spot. There’s a playground, picnic tables and a view of the lake. The bannock hotdog is so good with the wiener enrobed in bannock batter. Just add mustard and ketchup! Take fry bread back to the office, treat your friends, impress your boss with new ideas!

And remember, we love hearing about your discoveries, after all, we can’t be everywhere all the time!!
