Sneak Preview of the Week

620 CKRM is busy! Looking back on the weekend maybe you attended one of the thousands of Garage & Yard Sales. I tracked down a basic telescope and some books! What was your best deal of the weekend.

Many of you watched the Jim Hopson memorial on line or you attended his service on Friday afternoon. What a wonderful tribute to Mr. Hopson. I especially enjoyed the stories that his friends told regarding working with the school divisions and how he changed things in education in the rural areas.

Of course there was hockey and sorry Maple Leaf fans – it was a tough and entertaining game Saturday night – but what a let down. And the players know how disappointed fans are.

Sunday – Eat Tacos and drink some Tequila – celebrate Cino de Mayo Day. I was at the Prairie Winds Band Spring Concert as the emcee and enjoyed the Intermediate and Senior Bands performance, the icing on the cake was to have the Conservatory of Regina Pipe Band as part of the event. The mass bands playing Rod Stewart’s “Sailing” was incredible. Don’t forget to support local full bands and the pipes and drums. The Moose Jaw Band Festival is coming up as well as the Highland Games with piping competition in Regina at Victoria Park.

That brings us up to this week. Country Cook-out registration continues and the CKRM crew will be out with food from Nicky’s Cafe & Catering on Tuesday and Thursday. Steve Compton of the YMCA will be on the air with us. McDonald’s McHappy Day is coming up on Wednesday. And I will be at the 19th Annual Love Your Neighbour Fundraising Banquet. The theme is Addictions Recovery; Stories of Hope, Healing & Transformation. I am much like you in that we only see what we see and too often the successes of people struggling with addictions are not told. I am looking forward to this very informative and eye opening story from Shayil Home, Souls Harbour Rescue Mission’s Women’s Addictions Program. We all need to open up and learn about how things can change.

Enjoy the week, it will be busy – just like all of May!
