Buckin’ out MS (Audio)

Father’s Day weekend in Saskatchewan usually means one thing: Pilot Butte Rodeo time! For the past four years Caitlyn Stenberg has been organizing a bronc riding event prior to the rodeo to raise funds to fight multiple sclerosis, a disease she’s been living with for the past several years.

“Over the last four years, total, we’ve done just over $27,000,” stated Stendberg. “Last year was over $12,000, which gave me a ticket to the MS Champions Walk in New York in April, so I went down with 47 other Canadians and we did the 4.5 mile walk with about 20,000 other New Yorkers and raised just over $300,000 for MS.”

This year’s Caitlyn’s Crusaders bronc match will get underway Friday night, June 14th following the slack performance, which starts at 6pm at the rodeo ground north of Pilot Butte. The bronc match features 15 of Canada’s top saddle bronc riders and bareback riders who will compete for specially made championship knives and cash prizes.

“At the gate, it’s all donation based, so everyone who comes just makes a donation to MS Canada,” noted Stenberg.

In addition to donations and bronc riding, Stenberg will be organizing a 50/50, door prizes, and a live auction, which includes golf passes and an autographed Vladdy Guerrero Jr. Toronto Blue Jays jersey.
