Air Quality Advisory Issued Because of Smoke

A special air quality statement is now in effect for southeast Saskatchewan.

According to the advisory, issued just before 7:30 p.m., smoke is causing or expected to cause poor air quality and reduced visibility. The advisory includes the Estevan, Weyburn, Carlyle, Regina, Yorkton and Moosomin areas, among others, and it extends to much of the province.

Environment Canada says a trough of low pressure is concentrating wildfire smoke and will be moving south and east throughout the night. Smoke should slowly disperse throughout Monday, improving conditions by Monday night.
