Turning the evening news on can be a bit overwhelming at times due to violent clashes all around the world. From conflict in Middle East to conflict in Ukraine and the constant rhetoric coming from North Korea, it can get a bit much. It’s refreshing to hear a good story. A happy story. A story that not only gives a person a break from the bad news, but a story that restores faith in humanity.
Guinness World Records has officially declared Bernie Littman and Marjorie Fiterman as the world oldest newlyweds. The now 100-year-old Littman met the now 102-year-old Fiterman at a costume party in their care facility. After striking up a conversation the couple realized they had more in common than they thought and so began a romance. The couple would bond over meals in the home and take in entertainment that was happening in their building.
The couple began dating and earlier this year decided to tie the knot. Littman says his secret to longevity is staying up to date on current events and reading while Fiterman says it’s her love of buttermilk that keeps her alive and well.
Congratulations to this unique, happy couple!
