Retired crayon colours to return

Crayola is sprinkling a little nostalgia on today’s parents as they prepare to bring back eight retired crayon colours. For the first time in its 122 year history, the artistic company will revive specific colours due to popular demand. In a news release, Crayola says the decision to unretire these eight colours for a limited time will “delight and surprise customers.”

The eight colours that will make a comeback are:

Dandelion Yellow (retired in 2017)

Blizzard Blue (retired in 2003)

Magic Mint Green (retired in 2003)

Mulberry (retired in 2003)

Orange Red (retired in 1990)

Violet Blue (retired in 1990)

Raw Umber (retired in 1990)

Lemon yellow (retired in 1990)

In addition to the crayons, Crayola also says they plan on releasing a special limited edition of pencil crayons and special limited edition packages of markers.

According to statistics, the average child wears down 720 crayons by the time they’re 10 years old and the most popular crayon box worldwide is the 24 pack. Every year Crayola makes over 3 billion crayons a year and over 223 billion crayons have been made so far.

Where will you find the world’s largest crayon? According to the Guinness World Records book, the largest crayon is located in Jamaica, NY measuring 5.21 meters long, 0.45 meters in diameter, and weighing 681.29 kilograms, which is over 1500 pounds!
