Hair Stylists, Massage Therapists, Estheticians, when you find the right one, you hang on to them forever! Some might say, what’s the big deal, you’re in, you’re out, you don’t have to gel with these professionals, they are just doing a job. But if you are like me, after seeing the same massage therapist, or hair stylist for years, you form a relationship. It’s a time to visit with someone you don’t see regularly, and a lot of times, those sessions can become therapy sessions!

I’ve done this before, but I have to do it again. I have to give a shout out to my hair stylist. Shanley! Not only is she the kindest, most welcoming human being I have ever met, she is so patient and loving to my kiddos!
It’s a huge deal being able to take a 7 year old and a 4 year old at the same time for hair cuts, and anything and everything they ask for, the hair stylist says with a huge smile, “Sure!” “Shanley, can I spin on the chair?” “Shanley, can I have another treat?” Shanley, can I have another toy?” Wait, what? I thought we were at the hair dressers?
Oh yeah, she has a box of little toys that the kids get to go through after their hair cuts, and I don’t think she’s ever just let mine walk away with just one. Plus she has snacks and treats in the back, that again, I don’t think they’ve ever had just one. I remember one visit trying to say no, and stopping them at one, but I think Shanley was more disappointed than my kids were that I was saying no! So of course, I gave in.

She has been cutting my hair for a very long time, and almost every time I go in, I ask for bangs. I have long hair and the quickest way to change the look of long hair, is get bangs. Now, I HATE when I have bangs. Because I have glasses they usually stick out at weird angles pretty quickly, and doing my hair every morning with products and blow drying it, that falls to the bottom of my priority list. I’m more of a, live on coffee and dry shampoo, type of woman.
Shanley knows this about me. So each time I bring her a picture of what I think I want my hair to look like, she kindly, patiently works through my feelings of excitement with me, and eventually has me leaving her shop feeling fabulous, with a hairstyle that works with MY lifestyle and lack of time. Not with bangs. Have I said yet how much I love her?!
So cheers to the people who make you feel and look beautiful, and who are patient and welcoming to those little cute balls of never-ending energy, our kids. -Tonya Cherry-
