BIG RIVER – Update: On July 16, Big River RCMP, with the assistance of Saskatchewan RCMP’s Prince Albert Warrant Enforcement Suppression Team (WEST), arrested Cole Hegland at a rural property in the RM of Big River.
Officers also located and seized a firearm inside the residence.
As a result of continued investigation, 51-year-old Cole Hegland is additionally charged with:
- one count, unsafe storage of a firearm, Section 86(2), Criminal Code; and
- one count, possession of a firearm when knowing possession unauthorized, Section 92(1), Criminal Code.
Cole Hegland is scheduled to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on August 6
Original post: Big River RCMP are seeking assistance trying to locate a man charged in a reported aggravated assault.
On April 11 at approximately 2 p.m., Big River RCMP received a report that a serious assault had occurred at a residence in Big River and the victim was being transported to hospital.
Officers immediately attended the residence. Investigation determined that two adult male suspects had entered the residence and assaulted a male occupant with a weapon. The victim’s injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
Officers located and seized various weapons at the residence, but did not locate the two male suspects.
As a result of investigation, a 45-year-old man, of Lashburn, is charged with:
- one count, break and enter and commit indictable offence;
- one count, aggravated assault; and
- one count, uttering threats.
He was arrested in Lloydminster earlier today. His court date has not yet been determined.
Cole Hegland, 51, of Big River, is charged with:
- one count, break and enter and commit indictable offence; and
- one count, aggravated assault.
Big River RCMP are actively searching for Hegland, who has an active arrest warrant in connection to this incident.
Hegland is described as:
· Weight: 170 lbs
· Eye colour: green
· Hair colour and style: blonde, short hair
· Other descriptors: brown facial hair, and skull tattoo on left and right shoulder.
