ESTEVAN — The Estevan Police Service is investigating a sudden death that has been deemed a homicide.
According to a news release, at approximately 8:46 p.m. on May 10, police were dispatched to a call for service at a residence in the 1400-block of First Street. The caller reported that there was an assault taking place on an adult.
When police arrived, they located three men in the residence. Two of the men were arrested without incident and transported to the Estevan Police Service. Estevan EMS responded to the scene to care for the 60-year old victim and transported him to St. Joseph’s Hospital for treatment. He died from his injuries a short time later.
Detectives with the EPS Criminal Investigation Division have been assigned to lead the investigation and will be supported by the EPS Forensic Identification Unit. One of the arrested males was cleared of any wrongdoing and was subsequently released from custody. The second male, 36-year old Evan Dennis Isbister of Prince Albert, has been charged with murder and has been remanded into custody. He will make his first appearance in Estevan Provincial Court on May 12.
The victim and accused were known to each other and next of kin have been notified of the death. The name of the victim was not released.
The EPS continues to investigate.
