Many Saskatchewanians took advantage of the nice weather over the weekend by visiting greenhouses, golfing, cleaning up the yard, and seeding.
A number of weather records fell in various southern Saskatchewan communities on Saturday and Sunday according to Environment Canada.
First, on Saturday, Estevan climbed to 32.9C up from the 1977 record of 28.3C. Temperature records in the Estevan have been recorded for the past 125 years. Coronach felt the heat on Saturday as well, climbing to 31C, breaking the old record of 28.3 in 1977 and Yorkton also broke a record by reaching 29.5C surpassing their 1977 record of 27.4C.
Sunday also saw a couple of records fall in the province. Coronach reached 30.2C, exceeding a 1989 record of 27.5C. The Rockglen area also broke an old record on Sunday with the mercury rising to 28.3C, up from 26.7C in 1993.
Judging by the Precision Weather forecast for today, Saskatchewan may see more records fall yet with temperatures expected to reach 31C. Temperatures are expected to cool down this week with 22C expected on Tuesday, 15 on Wednesday, and 14 on Thursday.
