Despite the cooler, wet day we had a fantastic get-together with Todd’s of Glenavon/Peebles area. The steady rain created an opportunity for Todd’s neighbors, friends and relatives to join in the comradery of last nights cookout. The rain definitely created a sense of optimism for the upcoming harvest season. It was great to meet Dustin who won our cookout last night plus his parents Glenn & Lori. We also got reacquainted with some past friends who got the invite to join us such as the Englot’s and the Arnott’s. I always love talking to our winners about their farm operation and the historical past of the farm. The Todd’s have one of the oldest farms in the area that was established in 1903. They are mixed farmers with a lot on their plates.
Again this is all possible with the support of our great sponsors.

Thanks to Kevin Schultz for providing the great music as we ate our roast beef meal from Nicky’s Cafe & Catering.

Check out the sights and sounds of our adventure yesterday as I toured the surrounding areas of Peebles and Glenavaon to get my history fix.
Glenavon is a quaint community established in 1907 with all the amenities you would need (excluding school).

Took some time to drop by the former village of Kegworth established 1908 (probably got its name from Kegworth, Scotland) . Not much around besides the foundation of some relic buildings and the Parrish & Heimbecker terminal.

Then it was off to Baring about 9 miles NW of Glenavon and was named after noted English gentleman, Lord Baring. Besides the lone elevator and the old dance hall there is not much remaining.

Next it was off to the Moose Mountain Dam down highway 47 south and over to Lost Horse Hills then a stop in to Ocean Man First Nation treaty 4. They have a great annual Pow Wow.

It was just a hope skip and jump over to Handsworth for a looksee. Not much remaining.

Made my way back to the Todd’s but not before I captured some more sights and sounds around Peebles.

Let’s get to the cookout with the Todd’s.
