Summer in Saskatchewan means major road construction projects are in full swing and the Town of Assiniboia is one community seeing significant upgrades.
Motorists in, and around, Assiniboia are encouraged to slow down and seek alternate routes around town as crews remove the old road surface of Centre Street/Highway 2. Highway 13 though the town will also see upgrades including new sidewalks and new curbs and gutters.

Centre Street will see new pavement, new streetlights, and three new pedestrian crossings once the $8 million project is completed. The project also included the replacement of sewer lines and 15 new water main valves were added.
Over five kilometers of new pavement will be placed on the street/highway as part of an infrastructure agreement signed between the Town of Assiniboia and the provincial government.
The estimated date of completion is October 31st.
