A child under the age of 10 has died in what RCMP are calling a homicide on Shoal Lake Cree Nation.
On Friday at 7 p.m., Carrot River RCMP were called to a home where the child was found unresponsive. Despite efforts by officers and EMS, the child was declared dead at the scene.
Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes is now leading the investigation. A suspect, who was known to the child, has been taken into custody. Police say there is no risk to public safety related to this case.
RCMP say further updates will be provided as they become available.
