In celebration of Regina being named a “tree city of the world,” the city will be giving away tree seedlings to continue its push to have more trees in parks and yards. On Wednesday, June 4th, the City of Regina will be handing out one thousand Adam’s Elderberry tree seedlings at Victoria Park. Trees will be available on a first come, first served basis starting at 9am and going until the seedlings are all handed out.
Due to the popularity of the event, residents are encouraged to arrive early with only one seedling being handed out per person.
This isn’t the first time the Queen City has been named a “tree city of the world” by the United Nations and the Arbor Day Foundation. This is the sixth year in a row that Regina has been bestowed this honour thanks to its tree growing initiatives.
