ESTEVAN — A second person has pleaded guilty to multiple charges in connection with a November 2023 incident in Estevan.
Bradley Williams pleaded guilty to one count each of uttering threats, aggravated assault and forcible confinement. He is still charged with a second count of each offence, as well as a charge of possession of proceeds obtained by crime.
Williams entered the pleas on June 23 in Estevan Provincial Court. He was scheduled to have a preliminary hearing that day to determine if there was enough evidence for him to stand trial.
He is scheduled to make a court appearance Sept. 22 in Estevan Provincial Court for sentencing and to answer to the remaining charges. He remains out on conditions.
Williams also has other matters before the court, stemming from his arrest in connection with an August 2024 drug bust in Estevan.
Previously, Nathan Mangaard pleaded guilty June 5 to one count each of uttering threats to cause serious bodily harm, aggravated assault and unlawful confinement, and two counts of violating his release conditions. Other charges were stayed.
Mangaard received a 3 1/2-year prison sentence.
A third co-accused, Billie Bertram, is still facing charges in connection with the incident. He has been making court appearances by video from the Edmonton area recently after he was arrested on unrelated charges. Bertram is scheduled to appear in Estevan Provincial Court by video June 30.
The charges against a fourth person were withdrawn last year after that person died in a vehicle collision.
Background: According to a Nov. 7, 2023, press release from the Estevan Police Service, members were dispatched to a local residence in response to an assault in which two victims sustained significant injuries that required medical attention. During the investigation, four suspects were identified and subsequently arrested without incident.
Following the arrests, investigators obtained search warrants for several residences in Estevan to locate offence-related property.
