The Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team, known as SIRT, is now investigating a deadly police shooting in Regina.
The Regina Police Service says one of its officers fired their gun and fatally wounded someone during an investigation this morning. The shooting happened around 10:10 a.m. in the 1300 block of Garnet Street.
Because SIRT is handling the case, Regina Police say they will not give out more information right now. SIRT is an independent, civilian-led team that looks into serious incidents involving police in Saskatchewan to make sure they are handled fairly.
Anyone who saw what happened or has information is asked to contact SIRT. More details will be shared by SIRT as they gather facts about the shooting.
