The 5-1 Saskatchewan Roughriders will host the 1-4 Edmonton Elks Friday night at Mosaic Stadium and fans may notice a real festive theme to the game. July 25th marks five months until Christmas, which means the Saskatchewan Roughriders will be welcoming a special visitor to the stadium and they will be holding a snow ball fight.
“We’ve got Santa Claus there (and) we got Gainer fully decked out in his summer Christmas attire as well. We’ve got a dog show at half time, so there will be a little festive addition to their show as well,” explained Karina Peterson, Manager of Game Entertainment and Community for the Riders.
Organizers will be holding a “snowball” dodgeball battle at Party in the Park Friday afternoon and fans may even walk away with a Christmas present. You can listen to our full interview below:
Friday’s game will see Cody Fajardo start as quarterback for the Edmonton Elks after a week of questions and debate on whether or not Tre Ford will play in the game. This will be the first start for Fajardo against the Riders since he left for Montreal at the end of the 2022 season. It’s also a special night for Langenburg’s Noah Zerr who will be starting as left guard for the green and white after Zach Fry was put on the injured list.
620 CKRM’s coverage starts at 4pm on Friday with kick-off set for 7.
