SASKATOON — Saskatoon police say two people were transported to hospital following a collision Thursday morning that resulted in more damage than just the cars involved.
Shortly before 10:30 a.m. on July 24, police were called to the intersection of 38th Street West and Avenue G North for a report of a two-vehicle collision. The drivers were transported to hospital with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
While officers observed significant damage to both vehicles because one of the vehicles had disobeyed a stop sign and collided with the other in the intersection, they also noted that one vehicle then struck a tree and the other struck a house.
Members of the Collision Analyst Unit were called to investigate. The driver of the vehicle that disobeyed the stop sign was issued a ticket for proceeding from a stop sign before safe to do so.
In another incident the previous day, police found a hit-and-run vehicle had caused damage not only to an individual but to several other vehicles, resulting in an arrest.
At around 7:30 a.m. on July 23, 2025, police were called to the area of Avenue C North and 39th Street West for a report of a hit and run involving an injured person. Upon arrival to the area, officers learned that a man had been dragged by a vehicle while attempting to stop it from being stolen.
In the process, police say, the vehicle struck multiple uninvolved parked vehicles before the suspect struck another vehicle in the 1700 block of Avenue G North and fled on foot. The male suspect was located in the 1200 block of Avenue J North a short time later and, following a brief struggle, was subsequently arrested.
As a result, the 22-year-old Meadow Lake man was charged with robbery, operating a motor vehicle in a dangerous manner, and mischief under $5,000.
