REGINA — Two former City of Regina employees have filed a civil lawsuit against Regina.
Ly Pham, former chief of staff to axed city manager Niki Anderson, and Audra Young, previous Indigenous relations director, filed separate civil lawsuits on July 4.
Per documents obtained by SaskToday, both Pham and Young claim the City of Regina “breached the fixed-term employment agreement by terminating [Pham and Young] without providing [them] employment remuneration and other employment benefits,” as otherwise received before their contracts were set to expire.
Documents show Pham’s contract with Regina was set to expire on Feb. 29, 2028, while Young’s went until Feb. 5, 2027.
In the documents, Young and Pham seek damages from the city for terminating their fixed contract “in an amount to be proven at trial.”
In a statement sent to SaskToday, the city said it’s aware of the civil lawsuit.
“The city has no further comment as the matter is before the court.“
Pham first joined Regina in 2021 as a policy and public affairs advisor to former Mayor Sandra Masters. In 2022, Pham moved into the role of chief of staff to the city manager.
Meanwhile, Young became the city’s director of Indigenous relations in early 2022.
Both plaintiffs are being represented by McKercher LLP in the case.
