Wales, UK is known for his rolling green hills, lush forests, historic buildings, breathtaking castles, and its many islands, one of which could be yours…for the right price.
The small island of Thorne is only 2.49 acres but boasts a 19th century fort full of modern appliances and furniture, perfect for those who want a very private place or a unique spot to host business retreats and conferences.
The fort, which is being sold by real estate firm Strutt and Parker, is believed to have been built somewhere between 1852 and 1854 near the entrance of Pembroke Harbour as a line of defense against a possible invasion from Napoleon’s armies. At one time, the fort held over 100 men in preparation of invasion, however as the threat diminished, so did the need for the structure which eventually became a home and hotel by 1932.
Today, the fort has five luxurious and fully furnished bedrooms, large dining room, a rooftop bar, a games room, multiple wood stoves, and an office with stunning views of the sea. To get to and from the island, a helipad was built due to the island’s incredibly steep topography from the shore.
The selling price is three million UK Pounds or about $5.5 million in Canadian dollars.
