The summer months in Canada usually means venues will be buzzing with the sounds of weddings and laughter as thousands of Canadians tie the knot in front of family and friends. What if not everyone knows the bride and groom or their families? Some might find having strangers at a wedding a bit unsettling, however some European couples are selling tickets to the public to help cover the costs.
An app called “Invitin” allows soon-to-be-married couples the chance to sell tickets to their wedding to recoup costs for such things as catering, venue rental, and decorations. Guests are required to dress appropriately for the special day, drink moderately, and only take pictures that are approved by the newlyweds. Meanwhile, the couple can screen guests through the app before allowing them to show up to their nuptials.
Couples in both France and Italy have started using the app and, so far, reviews have been pretty positive. One extroverted couple in France stated it was a fun experience having strangers at the wedding because they like sharing things with people. In Italy, customers can take in a traditional wedding for as much as $8000CAD as part of a luxury package which allow “guests” to participate in specific rituals and vows. In France, most couples charge between $240 and $640 Canadian to attend their wedding and packages may go up depending on what type of experience customers are looking for.
Congratulations to all the engaged couples and newlyweds in Saskatchewan and it’s hoped you have an excellent wedding day.
