MOOSE JAW–Moose Jaw Police safely resolved a tense situation late Monday night involving a person in crisis at a home on Caribou Street West.
At approximately 11:50 p.m. on August 12, officers responded to a 911 call reporting an individual threatening self-harm. Upon arrival, police found the person had locked themself inside a room and was armed with a knife.
Officers gained entry and discovered the individual had already sustained injuries. When the person advanced toward police while still holding the knife, officers deployed a conducted energy weapon—commonly known as a Taser—to safely gain control of the situation.
The individual was transported to hospital by EMS and is receiving medical care. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
