Wadena RCMP have charged two men following separate traffic stops in the region earlier this month, seizing illicit drugs, firearms and ammunition.
On August 6, officers conducted a traffic stop in Kylemore, Sask., after a male driver failed to comply with police directions.
During the arrest, officers located 97 grams of cocaine, 27 grams of crack cocaine and 7 grams of methamphetamine on the driver. A vehicle search uncovered a set of brass knuckles and a semi-automatic handgun.
37-year-old Daniel McFarlane of Wadena faces multiple charges, including possession of drugs for the purposes of trafficking, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a loaded prohibited firearm without a licence, unsafe storage of a firearm and three counts of resisting arrest or obstructing a peace officer.
He has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Wadena court on Sept. 4.
Two days later, on August 8, Wadena RCMP received reports of a potentially impaired driver near Fishing Lake First Nation.
The driver was arrested after failing to comply with officers, and a search of the vehicle revealed two firearms, one loaded, and several hundred rounds of ammunition.
39-year-old Nathan Kayseas of Fishing Lake First Nation faces 17 charges, including possession of a firearm without a licence, possession of ammunition while prohibited, driving while prohibited and impaired driving.
Kayseas has been remanded into custody and is scheduled for a court appearance in Wadena on Aug. 21.
