Environment Canada has issued heat warnings for Regina, Moose Jaw, Weyburn, Estevan, Assiniboia, Gravelbourg, Shaunavon, Cypress Hills, Gull Lake, Swift Current, Chamberlain, and Dysart areas.
Heat warnings are issued by Environment Canada when very high temperatures and humidity levels combine to create dangerous working conditions outside by increasing the risk of heat stroke or heat exhaustion. The heat warning is expected to stay in place until Thursday followed by a cool down period with temperatures dropping to 22 Celsius on Thursday and 20 on Friday.
During the heat wave, temperatures are expected to increase to 33 on Tuesday with a humidex of 38 and on Wednesday a high of 32 with a humidex of 37 is forecast. Those working outside are reminded to drink lots of water, seek shade if possible, and take frequent breaks. According to Environment Canada, early signs of heat exhaustion include headache, nausea, dizziness, thirst, and intense fatigue.
