REGINA– The city has announced the 2025 construction season has now passed the halfway mark, nearly 40 per cent of planned projects have already been completed.
“By using strong collaboration and project coordination, our team continues to make real progress and complete projects in a timely manner,” said Kurtis Doney, Deputy City Manager for City Operations. “This work will have a positive impact on the everyday lives of Regina residents.”
Since the start of the season, the City has invested in key priorities that include:
- 10 km of road improvements under the Residential Road and Street Infrastructure Renewal Programs
- 3.5 km of upgraded sidewalks
- 184 lead service connections removed
- 2.2 km of water mains replaced
- Relining of 2.5 km of water mains, along with 792 metres of storm sewer mains and 786 metres of wastewater mains
Six major construction projects are currently underway, with the Dewdney Avenue Revitalization Project and the Water Network Expansion Project on track for completion this year. These upgrades will enhance a vital corridor and expand the City’s water infrastructure.
To help residents stay informed, the City has launched a video at Regina.ca/Construction, showcasing what these projects will look like once completed. The site also features a daily-updated construction map, which has already seen over 3,000 visits since its launch in May.
This season, the City is maximizing efficiency by deploying multiple crews simultaneously and scheduling work during evenings and weekends whenever possible.
As the construction season enters its final stretch, residents are reminded to plan ahead, slow down, and drive safely in construction zones. The safety of workers depends on everyone’s cooperation.
