One person was killed and several others injured Tuesday evening in a two-vehicle collision in the Rural Municipality of Wolseley, Sask., RCMP say.
Indian Head RCMP said they were called to the scene at approximately 8:00 p.m. on Aug. 19 at the intersection of Range Road 2104 and Township Road 172. Local fire, EMS, and STARS air ambulance also responded.
Police say the crash involved a car and a semi. A passenger in the car, a 29-year-old woman from Carry the Kettle First Nation, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her family has been notified.
The car also carried a female driver and three other passengers. The driver, an adult woman, was transported to hospital with serious injuries. Two female passengers, one an adult and one a child, were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A third female passenger was transported with injuries that have not yet been disclosed.
The semi’s male driver and passenger did not report any injuries.
RCMP said the investigation is ongoing, with assistance from a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist. Authorities have not yet released additional details about the cause of the crash.
“This is a tragic event, and our thoughts are with the family, friends, and community affected by this loss,” RCMP said in a statement.
Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who has dash-camera footage to contact Indian Head RCMP.
