It’s always nice to get away from the city pace of life and reconnect with my rural roots. I love the journey and the hospitality when I get to Foam Lake. Love the drive along highway 6 turning East on #16 to find my home away from home…Foam Lake.
The lottery was another success. So much work behind the scenes. Shout out to the organizers and volunteers who make this all possible.

Jaimie said her goodbyes to us, as she is moving onto other things. Thank you Jaimie Helgason for doing all you did and ensuring we were all looked after. You went above and beyond to make sure our stays were comfortable.

I had a chance to check out the Foam Lake Heritage Marsh during my stay and this is a vital part of the Quill Lakes International Bird Area. Established by Ducks Unlimited Canada to protect the province’s waterfowl species, this site offers three self-guided viewing areas complete with walking trails, lookouts, interpretive signage, and a washroom. Ideal for wildlife enthusiasts, the area provides a chance to observe species like American white pelicans, great blue herons, snow geese, deer, coyotes, amphibians, black-crowned night herons, tundra swans, common goldeneyes, sandhill cranes, short-eared owls and more. Key attractions include the Vatnabyggd Trail and the panoramic tower at the Johnson Viewing Area that also offers a place to launch a canoe. Visitors should bring binoculars and wear sturdy footwear.
