620 CKRM Harvest Country Cookout #1 with the Sies’s Family Near Melville

I’m always moved by appreciative people who enjoy the farm life and we experienced that with the Sies’s of Melville. Jordan (dad) is a very loyal listener of 620 CKRM, so when he heard the cue to call in he grabbed his cell got through with me. Well his ticket was punched and he and his family were the recipients of our cookout and it couldn’t of happened to a nicer family.

Our conversations were filled with optimism about the upcoming harvest and the pea’s are in for Jordan so the beer went down a little smoother. It was great to hang out with all the neighbors family and friends. Great company and music with a hot roast beef su

I always love the journey to the destination. We have soooo much to witness and visit right here in our own backyard. My first stop of the day was at the edge of the Qu’Appelle Valley. What a beautiful day.

Next was a stop to the old Mariahilf Chapel and Rustic Acres venue a little farther North on the #47.

My next stop was the quaint community of Killaly. Killaly was incorporated as a village in 1909 and was named after an engineer with the Canadian Pacific Railway. The village is located approximately 15 minutes south of Melville and 10 minutes north of the Qu’Appelle Valley, Crooked Lake, and Round Lake, which offer tourists a variety of recreational activities. I always try to recreate a scenario in my mind on how the community must’ve been very busy back in the day.

Off to Melville we go. Melville is known as a community rich in sport and is home to the SJHL’s Melville Millionaires. It is also known for its railway history which is featured in the Railway Museum located in the Melville Regional Park.
