What another memorable day as I found myself cruising along #2 North to Liberty for our 620 CKRM Harvest Country Cookout #3. We were hanging with the Wolff Pack from the area and made sure we catered to everyone in attendance. It’s our way to show our appreciation for the family’s, friends, and neighbors that received an invite. Prior to the cookout, I took my usual selfish journey around the area to capture the sights and sounds.
first stop is Liberty. Liberty is a small community that is situated just off Hwy 2 on the west side of Last Mountain Lake, and is in close proximity to a number of beaches and recreational areas.
- This bar/restaurant is going to reopen
- old bank
- this is a busy place
- Some standouts from the area
- The Cranes were in full force near Liberty
Time to head to Stalwart. Stalwart is between Liberty and Imperial. Stalwart was a large British Battleship. The line was built in 1910 when many settlers came from Britain.
Next stop Imperial. Most of the streets are named after British royals. Some loyal subjects created this towns layout back in the day.
Imperial golf course and some noteworthy images.
- sweet little course
- Love the stone barn. Not many of these around anymore
- Never seen so many Cranes in one area
Little farther down the road is quaint community of Simpson. I can imagine how these small towns were at one time full of life and hustle. Simpson was named after Sir George Simpson of Scotland. He was a businessman, administrator and explorer. The area was first settled in 1903.
- Elly runs Amazon Honey in town
- Amazon Honey
- Dwight was helping in my travel plans
- The Bridge to Nowhere!
- Mr. Oakes and friend was very informative
Next it was a hop skip and jump to Amazon. Between Renown and Simpson, Amazon was named after the Brazilian river and the first homesteaders arrived in 1904.
Let’s make our way to the Wolff’s of Liberty. Thanks to Quinn and Julie and everybody in attendance for making it a special time in our lives.
- Wolff Homestead
