Rider Nation showed its strength once again during the Labour Day Classic, helping the Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation’s 50/50 jackpot reach a record-breaking $1.48 million.
The total surpassed last year’s mark of $1.21 million, with half of the prize heading home with one lucky fan and the other half supporting amateur football programs across Saskatchewan.
“This result is a testament to the heart of Rider Nation,” said Cindy Fuchs, the executive director of the Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation. “Your support means more kids can step onto the field, build confidence and experience the power of playing football.”
“On behalf of the Foundation, I want to thank Rider Nation for showing up in such a big way and thank our presenting sponsor, ISC, for helping us make an impact to amateur football in our province,” she added. “Together, we are building something that will last generations.”
The Foundation says the money raised through the 50/50 is already making a difference. Over the past year, $1.8 million has been invested into amateur football initiatives.
That support has helped replace helmets, fund travel for northern teams and expand safe, inclusive programs for young athletes.
Officials say the record-setting jackpot will ensure even more kids have the chance to play the game across the province.
