PELICAN NARROWS — Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes has taken over the investigation into the disappearance of a Brampton, Ont., teenager last seen in Pelican Narrows.
RCMP say the disappearance of 16-year-old Jay’siiah Webb-Long is now considered suspicious.
Jay’siiah had been living in Pelican Narrows around the time he was last in contact with family members in Ontario over social media on May 16.
He is described as Black man, five-foot-11, slim build, with black shoulder-length curly hair styled in braids.
Police are asking anyone with information about Jay’siiah’s whereabouts to contact RCMP at 310-RCMP (7267) or provide information anonymously through Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or www.saskcrimestoppers.com.
RCMP say residents of Pelican Narrows may notice an increased police presence as the investigation continues.
The case began as a missing person investigation by Peel Regional Police in Ontario.
According to their release from June 15, through investigation, police located an address for Jaysiiah in Pelican Narrows. The local RCMP Detachment attended the address believed that Jaysiiah was staying at, although were advised that the residence and area had been evacuated due to the forest fires.
