ESTEVAN —Two people were arrested in a drug bust in Estevan in early September.
According to a news release, the Estevan Police Service (EPS) Drug Intelligence Unit arrested a 44-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman Sept. 4 in connection with a drug trafficking investigation.
The EPS said the male suspect faces multiple charges, including trafficking cocaine, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000 and resisting arrest.
The female suspect has been charged with trafficking cocaine, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000 and possession of a prohibited weapon.
The EPS said a search warrant, authorized under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, was executed at a residence in the 400-block of Third Street. Police seized:over $12,000 in cash, the prohibited weapon, and cocaine the EPS said has an estimated street value of $7,000.
Both individuals were remanded into police custody and are scheduled to appear in Estevan Provincial Court on Sept. 8. Their names were not immediately released by the EPS.
The EPS also thanked the public for their assistance in apprehending the male suspect, who the EPS said initially fled from officers.
